Uganda Tree of Life Ministries
Who are we, and Why are we here?
In the summer of 1998, Reverend Bubba Stahl of First Baptist Church of Boerne, Texas, joined
a delegation of people from all over the United States traveling to Uganda for a pastors
conference. Upon arriving in Africa, they divided into teams and went out into the area
surrounding Iganga, Uganda, spreading the Gospel message. As the conference came to a
close and the pastors returned home, Bubba extended his stay an extra week in order to
become ore acquanited with a group of local pastors we now know as the ministry leaders of
Uganda Tree of Life to determine how he could help them in their fledgling ministry.
I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first
day until now.
It was at that time the Tree of Life Ministries was formed. The ministry is known in Africa by the
name Tree Life Ministries Uganda and is an officially registered NGO, which is the equivalent of a
corporation in the United States. The American arm of the ministry was established as Uganda
Tree of Lfie Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, and through its board of directors serves in
an advisory and oversight capacity and raises funds in support of the ministry's projects. Since
July 25, 2007 UTOL in America has been registered as a 501(c)(3) organization which allows all
contributions to be tax deductible. Since everyone associated with the American group and its
board of directors serves on a volunteer basis, all donations are used directly in support of the
African ministry. The UTOL Ministries is primarily sponsored through the congregations of the
First Baptist and First United Methodist churches of Boerne, Texas and remains one of their
primary missions initiatives.
